 9/11/2020 A Day Of Remembrance

The forest fires surrounding us are lending their smoke to the atmosphere, cooling and gloomy.  We are safe and pray to continue so but distant neighbors have not been so lucky.  They have closed the national forests due to drought and fire danger.  Our little towns will be more sleepy with less tourism.  Here are some photos from our last walk on the McCloud River Trail.  Colors of Fall creep into the conversation.  I miss the forest already.

August 2020

Mount Shasta makes it's own weather.  When the rock is exposed you see so many colors, from cinder red to purple and dark gray.  As many years as I have lived here I did not know these thistles bore a tiny lavender flower that is quite attractive.

Mount Shasta is always changing, from snow covered in winter to brilliant dark rock in summer.  An upside down aquifer for those of us who depend on water here in Siskiyou County and in California.  Take nothing for granted.

I live in a cradle of volcanoes.  Mount Shasta, Shastina Peak, Black Butte, Mt. Eddy.  They attract...all kinds of beauty.  Is it safe?  It sure is fun.
